I’m new to Android devices. I just added my old Nexus 7 tablet to Boinc & WCG and after three days the results are:
----------------------------------------6 error (SIGSEGV: segmentation violation) 8 pending 4 valid If 1/3 WU ends in error is there something wrong with that tablet? Overheating, … or is this normal? I never see any errors in my two computers i7 & i3. ![]() |

Good morning 3rkko,
----------------------------------------I'm actually running seven android devices (2x odroid u3, odroid xu3 lite, minix neo q7, scishion V88, sunvell t95u pro, sunvell t95z) with different android versions (4.2 - 6.0) and boinc versions and had no errors until now. Some of the androids are running more than two years 24/7 for wcg. I'm awaiting three more android boxes. ![]() |

Sorry it took so long to reply! I am now having 2/3 WUs ending in error, all with the same "SIGSEGV: segmentation violation". Propably Odroid/Raspberry/etc devices work fine but this tablet just seems to be rubish. I will stop using it for Boinc.

Can you try reducing the number of cores the device has? Perhaps start with half and see what happens.

The default settings had 50% of cores enabled when I installed it and I let it be that way until the first WUs completed. One was ok, the other one errored. It might work with just one core enabled but it’s not worth it.

I'm getting the same issues on 2 Moto X 1st Generation Phones running Android 5. It doesn't seem to matter which WCG Project it is. Just wasted a few days with the WCG challenge and got no credits out of this.

It's kind of sad that in the two months this was reported nobody from the WCG team has responded and the issue persists.
It's bad enough that WCG is a non-standard BOINC implementation and wreaks havoc with anything trying to wreak havoc and we have to use weak passwords as WCG is 10 years behind in not allowing extended characters in the password fields. |

Considering you are having problems with your devices at other projects as well... I would say it is your devices with the problems and not WCG.

We are looking into the issues on Android and will be running a new beta for SCC1 soon to get more data. If you are a beta tester keep an eye on the Beta Announcement forum for more details.
Thanks, armstrdj |
