2 questions:
----------------------------------------1)Why hasn't there been any News from the OZ project? It's been 5 months and the project is 45% complete. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk but us volunteers shouldn't need to wait years for an update. WCG really should force all Projects to give at least a Quarterly update. I think I speak for a lot of crunchers...if a Project isn't going to provide timely updates, I'm not going to crunch for them because I feel left out. My point in crunching for a Project is to help it solve its goal...if I'm not getting updates on the big picture, I'll help some other Project. 2)How does the OZ (or any Project for that matter) determine that it is 45% complete? Is OZ stating they've dished out 45% of the work units? It would be nice if WCG clarified this percentage because I believe all the Projects have different goals and some have Phases. It would be like a doctor telling me that Cancer is 45% solved. It just doesn't make any sense. Thanks all. ![]() |

They've got a separate website that they've been updating with task progress and experiment descriptions. I would prefer they used these forums.
http://openzika.ufg.br/ As of today, WCG has been told of a certain amount of projects, publicly announced and otherwise. Of those projects, 46% of work has already been finished. |

2 questions: For the first few months of any new project, the researchers are getting into a system of receiving and analyzing massive amounts of data. But rest assured, there will be an OpenZika project update in a couple of weeks. 1)Why hasn't there been any News from the OZ project? It's been 5 months and the project is 45% complete. Anyone who wants to keep up with the details of their experiments can go to their website: http://openzika.ufg.br/experiments/ You may find information on the progress bar here. But as a search in these forums will tell you, the percentage shown on the progress bar is not always indicative of the project's lifespan on World Community Grid. We always will make an announcement when a project is nearing completion. Thank you for your support, ErikaT |

Thanks all. Yes, ErikaT...I neglected to state that I had searched the forums already regarding the percentage confusion.
----------------------------------------Thanks for the link to their site...the Experiments link seems to showcase news, but it's pretty nitty gritty for us non-chemists. On the WCG iste, it would be nice to have higher-level news, stats about the work units, how many "cures" they have investigated, which of those cures are still being looked at, etc. Basically stats and lots of details that are NOT chemical-jargon. :) I worked at a health .org for a few years and I had to always tell them that their day-to-day hard work is great for their peers to understand...but when it's time to share the news/results with the world, they had to publish it so that non-doctors could understand if their donations (money) were helping the cause as well Joe Shmoe could understand if his daughter's illness was likely to be better treated in X months/years. Sure, post a 2nd doc regarding all the medicine stuff but that was likely already passed around to all the peers. Thanks again. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by ericinboston at Oct 13, 2016 9:25:02 PM] |

We always will make an announcement when a project is nearing completion. So there's more work for UGM then? |

Just an observation, not a prediction:
In the month of October the status bar made a steady progression from 41% to 58%. If it continues at the same rate as it has over the last month then the status bar will reach 100% in mid January 2017. |

Building off what deltavee said, the progress bar is now giving an estimated completion date of February.
----------------------------------------EDIT: And WCG's specific date that others found is currently showing end of Feb. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Seoulpowergrid at Nov 1, 2016 12:54:03 AM] |
