to WCG team, as you recently got out with a information that is vital for some future calculations that some of us are making...referring to this post:
----------------------------------------http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...ead,39306_offset,0#528902 could you disclose the weight of the projects on WCG in some special topic, with frequent updates as they are changed? thanks, |

Hey KLiK,
We generally like to run a project as fast as possible. So they can get even runtimes between them. However with constraints by various issues, this does not always seem to work. Help Stop TB comes to mind as there is a very limited number of results in progress at one time. Generally though, if we change the weight of a project, we do mention it in the specific forums, to explain the slowdown or speed up of results. We do sometimes tweak the weights between wide open applications so their runtimes are equal. A tweak would be changing form 40.0 to 40.5 for example. This data in the past few years has been changed maybe 3 or 4 times. It is not frequently updated, and again, those 3 or 4 times has been announced, either through new project launch giving the project speed or another post for slowdown/speedup for a given application. Thanks, -Uplinger |

KLiK,
----------------------------------------The actual weight of all the projects can be calculated by anyone from the project stats. Or you can look at Sekerob's dashboard since he does it with both a daily and a seven day average. |

Had about zero point zero intend in 'Disclosing' that, and at least one different period is on there as well, on which the relative number is computed... oops now I still did it ;O)))))

Thanks, -Uplinger Hi, thanks for answering...I do know that you run them as much as you can, given that some servers on some research centers / labs / universities are a small defining factors in those research... But here's a suggestion: to have one place, where anyone of us can come to get latest weight of projects or percentages used...for me it will give me less time to search around & find something on one place for a topic here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,39475 For anyone else, so he can compare those data to those that is has made... Listing through several topics, just to find latest weight is not so easy to keep up to! So it would be helpful a lot, if it's on one place listed...doesn't need to be this topic, can be a new one, opened just from admins & techs, without us commenting! Could you do that? |

I second the suggestion

I vote NO... I would much rather see the time spent on additional projects or optimizing the back end systems. As mentioned previously, there are other ways to obtain the information. IMO, it's a waste of time producing a web page for something that Uplinger said rarely changes.

IMO, it's a waste of time producing a web page for something that Uplinger said rarely changes. It doesn't have to be a special automated web page, but can be if it's easier to have it that way...until that time, a topic just like this one would suffice... |
