Question about projects

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this....I only guessed at where it should be placed.

Anyways, has there ever been a research submission for curing Rheumatoid Arthritis by scientists? That's certainly one I can get behind, since I was diagnosed with severe RA just last year. No cure and the rest of your life is a painful endeavor....if your heart/brain/lungs/vascular system holds out. Just wondered....it would certainly get my computer's full attention on research.

Re: Question about projects

I haven't heard of an RA project but Uncovering Genome Mysteries here is doing basic research that may hasten RA treatments and cures. My mom had severe RA in her 30s and then it went away.

Re: Question about projects

"Went away"....as in remission? That's awesome that she got it to go into remission. And if that project can help the disease, then I'll put my computers to that project. Thanks for the info.

Re: Question about projects

You're welcome Skippy70. I don't remember directly but I looked it up and she must have been in remission for 40 comparatively pain free years. It certainly made an impression on her as she would recall her difficulty with door knobs etc.

Re: Question about projects

WCG takes applications from research teams, so if you know any researchers working on RA who could benefit from the computational resources, encourage them to get in touch with WCG. WCG does not do or create any research itself, they just help the researchers get everything running on the grid.

Re: Question about projects

I wish I knew some, but I sit in a remote location. And, I doubt any research programs are running in my area (that I know of).

Also, had a grandpa who had RA diagnosed...it went to remission by changing his complete lifestyle & eating habits...

died of heart problem in 2004...but lived healthy & normally from 1995 or 1996, when he was hospitalized!

all I can tell you: no, there's no cure!
yes, it's reversible...with healthy eating habits & some special diets!
wink
