Re: Website formatting screwed

Whats "Dev Tools"? Running 49.0.1 since whenever it came out and see nothing going bunkers, lest you access this js address directly for private reasons, yeah that looks like a never ending unformatted string. Same for the css link.

let me exit the browser, to clean cache and see wazzup when returning...

Re: Website formatting screwed

Yup, the Forum layout has lost it's 1024 pix wide framing, now fully fills the browser width.

Edit: the IE page scraping has not gone off the ledge, and that it set to clear everything in , get page, get out for each scrape. Opening in IE though by hand show same loss of the framing... no place to go to my contribution. The bookmarks jumping me to that, that piece looks fine...phew. raised eyebrow

In FF, hit F12 or Ctrl-Shift-I or "Open Menu" ("Hamburger" icon) / Developer, then use Network tab.

That's what I'm seeing.

Re: Website formatting screwed

Same on Firefox and Opera in Linux.

I was afraid it was something wrong on my computer.

Re: Website formatting screwed

Sorry about the issue. The forums and the website are separate applications (ear files for those in the know). The js and css files are in the website ear file and it was updated yesterday. Those files now contain a hash in their name (so that we can set very long cache values for them). When the website was released, it removed the old version and had itself refer to the new version. However, since the forums were not updated, it still referred to the old version which therefore didn't download and caused the forums to render without the help of css or js.

We have an item on the backlog to figure out the best fix for this. We have been just deploying both files, but that is not an elegant solution. A better fix either consists of deploying a version of the css/js files with the forums (which means that there will be two almost identical files that you will download) or keeping the older versions of the files around (which generates 'cruft' in our deployment code over time).

Re: Website formatting screwed

Thanks for the explanation, Kevin. Always interesting to read a technical snippet about what has to be done in the background.

Inspector with tabs and Console with tabs I have as menu option when right clicking anywhere in a web page, suppose that's what your Dev tools are, but I use Firebug through "Inspect element with Firebug" or F12... it got me at those Form values of j_username/j_password, which allowed me to log in automatically from the Office app.

Edit: All is normal again, without having to exit the browser and cleaning the cache on doing so.
