confused Tasks endlessly run...

I posted this a while ago, but still happens from time to to time.

Occasionally, I get an MCM task that, once at 100% percent, still says running. It was at about 6.5 hours, and acting on advice from SekeRob, left it running. I came back at about 10.5 hours runtime (Next day, as was set to 25%. CPU, and 4 times 4 is 16 hours), and it was still going, so I aborted it. Any idea why this happens? The log shows I aborted it as normal, no info on runtime.

Re: Tasks endlessly run...

As in the orher thread where you just commented, ensure to set scan exceptions for the BOINC data dir struc (path printed at start of event log). Does not matter if Windows Defender, Avast, AVG, Symantec products, you name them... do it for all. Why some hang ... a file lock maybe or other race condition, but just not seeing this endless 100% state (except for OET on Android, where I've seen 9 hours going before concluding). Restarting the task with LAIM off most always leads to the task finishing after reverting to last checkpoint.

Summation of actions

- Make sure the Leave App!ication in Memory, when suspended or equivalent is unticked in the local prefs.
- Set No new tasks./tasks for all active projects.
- Suspend all Ready to Start.
- Suspend the stuck task
- Verify the state is suspended for the task and check in process manager, the process has exited memory. For a quad you then should only see 3 tasks listed and using CPU time by WCG.
- Wait 30 seconds, then resume the task and reverse the suspend on all Ready to Start tasks.
- Observe if tasks continues or gets stuck again.

Get back here if not resolved.
