Re: Minimal OS

DSL being 32bit and no longer supported I hear would put me off

Lubuntu is the obvious one

Fatdog64, a derivative of puppy, works if you are prepared to learn it

Porteus might be worth a look but need to learn how that works too

Re: Minimal OS

server version of Ubuntu is not big either because is stripped out of any desktop app and desktop. Can still add desktop in what lite version you prefer. I use it for the LTS versions that keeps maintance for five years.

Re: Minimal OS

Supposedly 'small' Linux distros with a punch: http://www.linuxplanet.com/news/linux-top-3-a...2-and-linux-lite-3.0.html

Also, Lubuntu is said to be a lighter type, but frankly, if I get 99.5% efficiency with a full blown Ubuntu on Unity interface, what then is there to gain other than the few seconds gain in loading the smaller OS?
