I have been getting different versions of Help Stop TB.
----------------------------------------Help Stop TB 7.14 -- HST1_ 001191_ 000091_ MC0029_ T300_ F00091_ S00002_ 1-- Help Stop TB 7.16 -- HST1_ 001191_ 000043_ MC0029_ T300_ F00043_ S00002_ 1-- Is there a difference that I might see? Just curious. Thanks Tom |

Oops, seems like Imakuni posted about this about 5 minutes before I hit the send button.

The 7.14 is a 64 bit version on the Windows platform, the 7.16 is the 32 bit, on the Windows platform. You can confirm this by visiting the results logs which state the OS detail. The results from both versions are equal, i.e. mixed bit size processed results do validate against each other.

Right... but then why are 64 bit machines getting the 32 bit version?

64-bit WUs can only go to 64-bit machines, but there's no reason not to send a 32-bit WU to a 64-bit machine. I've no idea if there's a processing penalty doing it that way, but if there are insufficient 32-bit machines to make a quorum then at least it keeps things moving.

That's becauuuuuse the feeder can't wait on another 32 bit OS device coming by and will assign wingmanship to the first homogeneity group compatible client. You've not demonstrated this is happening though... the only thing shown in the OP is, that a result from a v7.14, 64 bit version [which surely ran on a 64 bit system] is compatible with a 7.16 32 bit computed result. It would be outlandish if 7.14 original is matched to a 7.16 original (copy _0 or _1) to run on a 64 bit OS [almost idiotic, since the performance gain claim by WCG is 4-8 percent]. If you don't run CEP2, you can actually block 32 bit coming to 64 bit OSses [kindly read the config.xml wiki for the option needed]

BTW, to remind myself, there was the capability to actually do a comparative performance test for 64 bit machines to see if 32 bit would run faster than the 64 bit build. Something like 10-20 of each could be sent after which it is determined if the lower bit sized is preferred. (And yes, 32 bit apps can at times process faster on 64 bit OSses, than their 64 bit versions). Still never seen a confirmation by techs if it is actually tested at host level.
