Doesn't seem to work in XP (x86) or on 2003 Server (x64)

All result files from these machines have this issue:
<core_client_version>7.4.27</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
couldn't start app: CreateProcess() failed - (unknown error)
</message>
]]>

These machines process other projects without any issues.
Is this expected behaviour?

There are a number of reports in other threads about XP-32 where the create process fail occurs, in fact no one has come to the board to say the delayed 32 bit build on XP has succeeded. No one tests for XP compatibility anymore. Server 2003 is I think a new problem report. Either the OS, or CPU capabilities e.g SSE2 missing, maybe not enough ram, but for latter download would normally already fail.

The XP system has a single core P4 with SSE2 and 1GB RAM
The server machine has a quad core Nehalem i7 and 8 or 16GB RAM can't remember which

I suppose the 1 GB RAM is the cause.
HST needs 250 MB free memory and I have some doubts that this amount of memory is free on these very limited ressources.

Unless WCG stats show a flood of fails for these platforms, afraid there wont be work done to cure the fail from an app point of view.

There's a registry hack to still get post-support-end XP-SP3 updates [that otherwise only go to paying customers who want extended support]. Could fix the issue by supplying one or the other newer library, but think it is a slim chance.

To whom is Google not a friend ;? , maybe any of the dozens of hits related to this issue offer a solution: https://www.google.co.uk/#q=boinc+createprocess+failed&gws_rd=cr ... in at least one case an AV software named Kaspersky played foul.

Re: Doesn't seem to work in XP (x86) or on 2003 Server (x64)

If i had an XP machine and it cant run newer Windows versions or i dident want to pay for upgrade i would have put a Linux distro on it like Mint or Ubuntu.

Windows XP is as dead an OS can be and dont get any security updates at all. There for it should not be conected to Internet and to internet it must be conected to work as cruncher. I dont care for you personal if your computer get high jacked by cyber criminals but personal i want a safer Internet with less viruses, and cyber crime.
