Well, despite my reservations (those already expressed above, and others, more personal to me - after all, I have witnessed, first hand the "other" side of IBM that I won't go into here), I did decide to register and vote for WCG.
----------------------------------------After my vote, the stats were showing; 58% IBM - IBM's World Community Grid ![]() |

Well, I voted a while back because of the choices, I believe this project, even with all its flaws, is still head and shoulders above the other contestants. It is a little frustrating to have WU shortages, but this is basic research after all. When you go into uncharted territories you need to use some caution, otherwise you venture too far down some deadends. I agree with the sentiments expressed concerning the inability of the researchers to fully understand the scope of their projects and to get overwhelmed by a data flood. That being said, this is the bleeding edge where mistakes get made and then corrected (not as fast as we would always like). I am sure some of this is a learning curve for the researchers also. Regular feedback from both the researchers and the techs is always appreciated, the more regular, the better.
----------------------------------------Cheers
Sgt. Joe

Unless there was a coordinate rush vote for any one of the other 4, WCG was miles ahead. Lowest I saw last, a few days before close was about 53%. WCG was early voting with a high of ~68%.

Last I saw we were at 55% before they took off all the percentages off the website for the last day of voting. We'll find out on Tuesday if we won.
Thanks so much to everyone who voted! |
