After nearly eight years of crunching WCG changed the Cross-Project Id for my account during the last week. As a result the WCG contribution is no longer connected to my main account at BAM.
----------------------------------------I want to know why my Cross-Project Id was changed and more importantly I want to know how I can change it back to the Id I used for the past eight years. Thanks for your time and help. Cheers [Edit 3 times, last edit by Marbot at Mar 28, 2016 5:28:44 PM] |

The CPID is changed in at least 2 cases
----------------------------------------1) when you changed the email address. 2) if you joined a new project. In the latter case the BOINC system has to find again what the oldest CPID is related to your common email address. In the former case again the clients have to converge on the code that got generated on the first project where the email address was changed. All in all this recovering can take several days. For sure WCG DOES NOT change the 32hex character code, it's an action you took somewhere. [Edit 1 times, last edit by SekeRob* at Mar 28, 2016 5:36:18 PM] |

Thanks for your reply! I am pretty much confused.
----------------------------------------Indeed I changed my e-mail address at WCG last week. What do you mean by 32hex character code? I have a Cross-Project Id which changed here at WCG last week and I have a External Authorization Code as well. I cannot tell if this one changed too. Is this one the 32hex character code you meant? Both indeed have 32 characters. I am sure that I did not change the Cross-Project Id elsewhere since the old one is still identical to the one at BAM, Einstein and Seti. The only change to this number occurred here. So is there a way to get the old Cross-Project Id back? Should I change back to the old e-mail address? Advice much appreciated. Hi SekeRob*,
----------------------------------------thanks for the edit to your original post. This seems to be the answer. So if I have a different e-mail address on the project here where is never a chance that this account mess (different e-mail here than on other location) I created will ever by synced? Cheers [Edit 1 times, last edit by Marbot at Mar 28, 2016 5:51:50 PM] |

The CPID is a code computed with the email address in the equation. If you changed all your other projects to the same email Addy and or applied the change through Bam, then all your projects got a new CPID. Takes time for the system to align again, but essential is all your projects must have the same Addy, else consolidation won't happen.
YES,, from memory if you only changed WCG and reverse the mail change your likely getting the old code back. |

Since I changed the e-mail address only here I will revert to the old e-mail address. That's the only sane way I see since the machines seem to like it better this way.
Thanks a ton for your insight. Keeping fingers crossed. :) |

Affirmative. I got my old CPID back. Now the machines have to do the sync. :)

Hi everybody. I'm newbie and there's just a plenty of topics here to choose right one to post my certain problem.
----------------------------------------I have BOINC account since last year. Could anyone tell me if is it possible to bind my BOINC credit-nails (CPID, week key) to my WCG profile? Many thanks. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Duce-HK at Apr 12, 2016 7:34:58 AM] |

No, not any credit nail can be linked by any key to your profile. What you have earned for an account, stays with an account, inalienably.

The term "credit nail" is new to me, but your CPID can usually be synchronized by attaching all projects to a single host, and waiting a few days for all the projects to figure it out.
