Can't we delete Notices?

I find it irritating that I can't delete messages sent via my BOINC manager
that I've read or can't read because not in a language I understand.

Many of the messages once read are no longer needed, so our being able
to delete them would also take care of the mulitple language messages.
They just clutter up my list.

Also, some of the messages we receive are like preaching conversion
to the already converted.

Why not start a campaign requesting all participants post to their
social media pages about BOINC and volunteer computing with a link
back to you for you to explain the what, how, why and sign-up here.
You could even provide a short, little blurb for us to use with the link.
That would make it fast and easy for people to just copy and post.
It would get the word out and presummably a percentage, even if
small, would sign-up. A small percent of enough posts would add up.

Re: Can't we delete Notices?

You present 2 issues, but will stick to the topic: Not sure about notices, but think you can control in website settings communication as to what you receive messages for, language preference discussed several weeks ago. Then, in BOINC. Manager under other options there may be something to control how long notices are retained. Think any new unread notice is always top of the list and read status changes when selected. I've actually switched them off completely. Like you say, proselytizing to the converted is waste of many's time, visiting news periodically and what of true interest often gets a repost on the forums anyhow.

There's many ways to communicate, so pick the route you prefer.

@rac-ram
Are you sure you tried to delete the WCG notices?
Because, I do delete them from time to time without troubles. Additionally, I think that old notices are removed after reboot.
Cheers,
Yves

Re: Can't we delete Notices?

Just guessing, you can do that on a Linux client (?), but found no way [tried again], under Windows, with latest client 7.6.29. Right clicking a notice gives a whole slew of options including export to Excel and Onenote, but no delete/cut.
