CEP 2 7.00 - Accumulating Windows Handles

My machine crashed yesterday and diagnosis shows that some processes are accumulating a very large number of Windows Handles while running. The Clean Energy Project is one of the culprits on my machine (W7 64 bit Xeon w/ 16GB mem). Right now CEP is running and has gobbled up more than 20,000 handles and continues to accumulate more. Same behavior after a reboot also.

Re: CEP 2 7.00 - Accumulating Windows Handles

How / where are you seeing this?

Edit: Viewing one of several that are running concurrent since 6 hours, see ´current handles´ 53, ´peak handles´ 55. user handles 0, GDI handles 0.

Re: CEP 2 7.00 - Accumulating Windows Handles

This issue was tracked down to BitDefender Anti-virus. So much for Editor's Choice. Things are back to normal after uninstall of this AV program.

Re: CEP 2 7.00 - Accumulating Windows Handles [RESOLVED]

That was my thinking [easy to say afterwards], some security software interfering. Generally it's safe to exclude C:\ProgramData\BOINC + subs from scanning. There's constant checks on the content validity [most is transient anyhow and has various verifications build in]

Edit: Running without an AV at all is not a good idea. I'm happy with Alwil Avast [though the start bar pop up bragging of themselves for the free product is occasionally annoying... not buying, as who says the bragging wont continue ;]. The service has used 1:40 hours in 6:15:44:00 days since last boot.
