Why do I have 20 devices? Testing in VM's, reinstallations, etc. But the real problem is this:
----------------------------------------Every time, wether its on a VM or actual hardware, Ubuntu will half brick itself it restarted. If I restart after installing updates, 80% of the time it will go straight to the TTY prompt, and typing startx will launch a blank GUI with no icons or Menu Bar. I repair the repos, reinstall the desktop, nautilus packages, etc. But still the same thing. Every single time. I delete a bunch of built in software, like the games and libreoffice, but I have seen this behavior even when I don't. My old Celeron, after entering a shat ton of commands, is back on a semi functional GUI, but with no menu bar icons. Does anyone else have this issue? EBM ![]() |

I don't have a solution, but you might state what version of Ubuntu you are using and the hardware on which you are installing it.
