hi teamies i got ,my dually , is 80% thru work unit, only one core seems to be running :( any clues?? am running linux ubuntu and boinc ( of course) am total newbie to linux and boinc so please forgive ignorance cheers

There is a setting in BOINC regarding how many processors to use on such systems - I thought it defaulted to 2 - could be wrong though.

thanx mine did say limit 4 processors on the linux boinc thingy, any i only got dual core, i am closing in on the problem, looks like it is a limitation in ubuntu 64 distro, they do not seem to have SMP support setup properly yet asfaik, i did try to d/l a SMP update but could not find the file ( i might have worked?) looked around at their forums and the users were complaing at how cr@p the 64 SMultProc support was not good at all and they were warning users away,,

thanx for your comment it looks like boinc is ok but base install of linux is probably the problem.. i tried to install suse but multi disks were bound to have an error in iso burning i spsoe, then i tried another d/l of a dvd file but of course after 4 hrs of bigtime d/l the connection broke and "bits" down the toilet (again) tried getright but of course is not able to work with the sites that i tried to get the 64 bit iso of ANY (grrrrr) workable iso

i am going to the computer markets tomorrow in melbbourne ( collinwood) and will look around for a preburned disk, failing that will order and pay for a dvd-r burn of a suse 10 or something..... suggestions welcomed .. cover disks so far seem to be limited to iso of 368 , no help for 64 bit and dual cores , me very sad but at least i have one more core cooking for wcg today than yesterday.. cheers
