Why is the World Community Grid website offering version 7.2.47 while the BOINC website is offering 7.6.22?

You think [therefor you are]? Nothing in 7.4 to get excited over, and 7.6 is not a stable branch as still new releases keep appearing, would be my thinking. Actually when WCG sees the need to update, a whole factory mill of code auditing and security checking takes place by IBM, costly, before it's brought on to be OK for it's many corporate/business/colleges networks i.e. when it shows on the WCG download page, it's endorsed as safe safer safest and nothing less is acceptable. [Remember BOINC is open source, plus the development model has completely changed, to call for being even more careful].
(Totally guesswork). |

Why is the World Community Grid website offering version 7.2.47 while the BOINC website is offering 7.6.22? for WCG, nothing better is needed... on WCG you don use new GPUs, Parallela boards or BitMiners...so updating to v7.4.xx is not needed! & I can't see anything interesting about v7.6.xx...so why would we rush to newer version? check history here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/VersionHistory ![]() |

Yes, and IBM's corporate strategies are reflected in their stock prices over the last year. http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=IBM+Intera...ChartStacking":true} ![]() ![]() |

Yes, and IBM's corporate strategies are reflected in their stock prices over the last year. It's okay to sacrifice security for profits? Not that their choice of BOINC client version has anything to do with their for-profit ventures. |

You are partially right klik - somebody is missing the point. Or knowledge. Or information. Whatever.
