Re: most cancers caused by man made environmental pollution and not genetics

we, as a whole human kind, can't keep these low meat prices we have now...it's just absurd!
wink

Meat prices are quite low in the U.S. It is almost cheaper to buy meat than vegetables. That makes some sense when you consider that the grain prices that feed the cattle, pigs and chickens are low, and meat is just another way of transporting grain to market. But it can't last forever. They need to develop better soy-burgers.

nope...that what you eat "cheap" is probably "old meat from government surplus"!

real fresh meat isn't cheap!
cool

Pink slime is cheap.

Like almost everything, there is different grades. You get what you pay for. Don't you think that everyone would want to product top grade meat? Not every cut is going to be that, so if it ia really cheap, how did they make it that cheap?

Re: most cancers caused by man made environmental pollution and not genetics

Mostly homo sapiens sapiens processed food diet, E101 E104 E whatever we stick into it as well **, and lifestyle. [Sharks supposedly are also cancer free... one reason why their species is treated by nature as not subject to need anymore change since hundreds of millions of years or so]. Nature people also see a lot let instances [no processed food, not living in an air polluted, moving in the fast-lane environment].

** Did we ever ask for those additives/color enhancers/taste amplifiers... No, manufacturers just looked at what customers wanted [cheaper/more/super tasty and so on], did it and asked the FDA approval to stick it in, such as crap like aspartame and other artificial sweeteners. Some really heavy lobbying it took to get it some artificial stuff in. If Coca zero is deemed worse for diabetics than regular cola, it gives you to think.

Research

Some theories suggest that diet sodas are to blame for causing health problems such as metabolic syndrome. A follow-up study to the Framingham Heart Study suggested that drinking sweets such as soda triggers a person to crave other sweets. On the other hand, the American Heart Association stated that the study could not illustrate the link between heart disease factors and soft drinks. In 2009, the Diabetes Care Journal published the results of a study that found that daily consumption of a diet soda was linked to a higher risk for type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome disorder.

Conclusion

Science does not prove that diet colas affect blood sugar levels. In theory, artificial sweeteners used in these products should not have any effect. Physicians on the DukeHealth.org website debate on whether diet soda is harmful or not. Though each doctor has her own opinion regarding the topic, doctors cannot make conclusions due to the lack of substantial findings in research. Overall, the Harvard School of Public Health recommends that people consume fewer sugary drinks and limit diet soda consumption.
Sekerob, to me it looks like the jury is still out on diet drinks. However, you can drink what you feel is the best for you.

To me, black, unsweetened coffee is the best. When I was over in Italy, they had many wonderful coffees imported from Africa (not like the American stuff). Wish I was over there again to guzzle some more coffee.

It's a little late for me to give up my coffee (I'm 68). Every morning, I first stumble down the stairs to drink a cup of coffee -- then I check to make sure my heart has started beating.

And. remember that the definition of "good health", is dying at the slowest rate possible. crying
