confused Re: Return to default sort for tasks in Advanced view [SOLVED]

OK, so I accidentally clicked on the top of a column in the tasks list (Advanced view, of course) which automatically sorted the tasks by that column. I find that any sort by any column is not the same as the "original", default one (probably on Received time, which is not displayed) which I like best, but I have found no way to restore it.

Maybe this has been asked before, but I ran a few quick searches (or at least I tried...I swear I did try to use the search option but to no avail, as usual - yes, that old MVN forum business) and came up empty.

Can anyone tell me if there's a way to get that default sort back WITHOUT re-installing BOINC?

Cheers!

Re: Return to default sort for tasks in Advanced view

Must have been a long hot summer hiding under the pergola, all those bottled up messages arriving. wink

Restoring to 'original' sort, of received time, it seems to be an action for which the register may have to be visited. There's options to move / remove/ add columns, but never tried it, your best bet being the 3rd party BOINCTasks tool. It can sort multicolumn, primary, secondary.

Re: Return to default sort for tasks in Advanced view [SOLVED]

Hey, SekeRob*. Been a while! Nice to be back here and "seeing" familiar people.

I know this is going to sound silly, but I found the answer myself a few moments ago. In fact, I was just about to delete the thread, but then I refreshed and there you were with your reply, so I no longer have that option.

Anywho. To make a long story short, this is the solution I found: Go to Options >> Select columns, then click on Defaults. You get a confirmation message, click "Yes" and everything is back to normal.

So I hope that will help others, if they get the search function to work for them.

Cheers! peace

Re: Return to default sort for tasks in Advanced view [SOLVED]

Definitely new to me, and Spock logical to add a 'Default' button to the interface options view. Puzzling is, why Berkeley did not add more columns to the possibles over and above the default... think it was asked again quite recently.

Re: Return to default sort for tasks in Advanced view [SOLVED]

Yes, indeed. I would very much like to actually see the column that it is automatically sorting on (in this case, the received date) and why not others as well?

But I guess that if it was requested, then I expect it to be implemented...in a few decades. tongue

But since you are here and this thread has met an untimely resolution, just looking to confirm: you are "ye ol' SekeRob" that I used to know back in the day, right? What's with the name change? I know it's not your first, the last time you changed was actually because of me, if memory serves, but still...
