The other day I shut my machine off without waiting for it to complete a lengthy non-Boinc operation. Since then the Boinc Manager fails to start. While I can just re-install the software, I think that may obliterate any assigned wu. Any suggestions re: getting it running again?
Using Ubuntu 64 By fails to start I mean it shows in the menu of programs to run, but when clicked nothing happens. Thanks |

You don't tell what BOINC source you've installed [repository, Berkeley .sh, 3rd party PPA]. Maybe first try to run in terminal
----------------------------------------sudo service boinc-client restart It could be the daemon has not started, so then the BOINC GUI might fail too. Guess. That said, not waiting for proper shutdown can damage boinc job files too. Whilst, all the time you're trying to resolve the problem is lost computing time, so re-installing and finding to not recover tasks in progress is maybe the best way forward.
