Re: Run dry already?

How many other people are running dry due to stuck downloads? I've noticed this for a cpl weeks already. The only cure I've found is to abort the dwnlds, update the project, then if they get stuck again, repeat until it resumes getting work. :(

Re: Run dry already?

The permanent solution is to upgrade to 7.6.9. Don't go higher as something is buggered with the client priorities. Not read of a solution through 7.6.17

I have one machine devoted to this project. I have a 1 day cache. So far it has run flawlessly. Is it only this project which gets stuck on the downloads or are there more ? One thing you might try is to suspend activity in BoincMgr and then re-activate. A long time ago I had this problem across all projects and this temporarily solved the problem for individual downloads.
Cheers

Re: Run dry already?

Although the 'stuck downloads' is not specified on what files, you may remember there were 2 .png files for OET that started having this issue when there was the last outage end of October [see posts uplinger]. That has not been resolved [don't ask me why]. Upgrading client seems to be the only way around bar a server side solution.

Thanks for the info on the client update, will try that. I know one of the stuck files was definitely a .png file, but the profile is set for FAH2 only so it shouldn't be an OET file unless perhaps the Master file was being updated?

Re: Run dry already?

The 'should' word... well, as it is, there's a standard set of around 40 .png [to me completely useless slides mostly if not entirely service the simple view client], files that get downloaded to all clients. I suppose even headless clients get them pushed.

Re: Run dry already?

So....I noticed several of my remote computers have dropped off the list of clients with work in progress, no doubt they have stopped calling for work because of stuck .png files. Are any of the techs working on a fix for this that will be implemented automatically or will these boxes just drop off the list of project contributors never to be heard from again? Some of these boxes aren't easily accessible to abort the stuck dwnlds, or update the clients on. worried
I wonder how many other people aren't even aware that their cores are sitting idle because of these stuck .png files. worried

Re: Run dry already?

It is the same here. The most recent _0 work unit received was at 10:30 UTC yesterday. I had one resend at 20:14 UTC.

Re: Run dry already?

Same here. No resends, but also no new work since mid day yesterday. Prior to this cache had been refilling at a remarkably steady rate.

Cheers
