Hi,
I was already using Boinc with the Climate Prediction project on my computer without any problems, and i added World Community Grid to Boinc. Btw, what's the use of WCG Agent ? Is it an equivalent to Boinc ? I have not installed it as i have Boinc. Then i installed Boinc on my cell phone (LG D157f - Android). I set it to receive Ebola and AIDS, but am not receiving anything. On settings, its already set to use CPU. Also, i find the WCG site confusing on the computer, as it doesn't seem to distinguish clearly between my computer WCG projects and settings and my cell projects and settings. There is only "default", "work" and "home" profiles, and i have already changed them...home is for my computer and should receive on Clean Water projects, and the work profile is for my cell phone, trying to receive ebola and aids with no success...On my computer, i have already received and crunched some WCG projects... |

The cell phones version of BOINC use the Default profile at all projects. So, you will need to set that profile to receive the FAAH and OET work. That is probably why they aren't picking anything up.
----------------------------------------Edit: The WCG agent for the PC is still just BOINC but with a few tweaks designed for WCG and its security requirements. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Coleslaw at Sep 8, 2015 1:07:07 AM] |

ok, thanks for the info. I just changed the default profile, still didn't receive any tasks...i guess it takes some time for this update to be in effect and the server start sending tasks...

Found this exact same question popping up at Google Groups as well. Where else? Fine, but why don't you tell about the cross-posting and where? As one is not aware of the other in most all cases, duplication of effort is bound to happen, so would advise against such practice.

Edit: The WCG agent for the PC is still just BOINC but with a few tweaks designed for WCG and its security requirements. Let's precise, (or confuse): The web-profile preferences of 'Default' are/were [say 'were' because that functionality was rooted out in later BOINC for Android versions], EXCEPT where it relates to sub-project selections. The test to perform is to see in Device Manager to which the device profile the phone is associated [Default can be any of the other possible 3, home, work, school]. In the one you see associated, you make sure to also select under 'custom' that OET and/or FAAH are also chosen. There's no delay function... after saving and hitting Update in the client, work flows immediately according new selections. If the minimum requirements are met that is. If not, the event log on the client would print something/anything, to tell why not. BTW there is a seriously broken issue if Clean Water is still listed as a select-able project at WCG as the project is marked complete since longer. Anyone else seeing this as an option? |
