Re: Uncovering Genome Mysteries - temporarily out of new work

Any hope of another update. It's been about 3 weeks since the last one. I'm sure some progress has been made.

I think the drought might last a little longer... the progress bar has been removed from the active research page and the project's icon has been moved down below the finished projects. Me thinks this dry spell will last for some months (I sure hope that my gut feeling is totally outta whack biggrin ).

[edit]: fixed a typo biggrin

Re: Uncovering Genome Mysteries - temporarily out of new work

Ooooo... now everyone can fret over whether new work will be under a new badge. Oh no! I am only xx days away from my xx badge at UGM. What ever will I do? What if new work is under a new UGM2 badge? OMG I'm in panic mode! crying I'm really only crunching for the science but what about my badges?.....Will there be resends? Oh woe is me!

Full disclosure: Was like the above during the FAH to FAH2 transition but have learned to get over it. Take what work comes when it comes and crunch on...

That's the spirit - I believe that the science is the most important part of this project, so as long as I got something to crunch, I'm a happy man!
Couldn't care less about badges - they may matter to some people, but not to me.

Re: Uncovering Genome Mysteries - temporarily out of new work

The thing I don't understand about UGM is to me it's kind of like running around to copy the numbers on dollar bills spent by those that have more money then someone else to try and get rich. On Ted Talks there is a guy that encoded a chip with DNA codes and if you have a bug you don't know it converts that bugs DNA into a kind of bar code.

With UGM and only 4 peaces to build DNA with and the wide ranges of life on earth there is a ton of codes that do and don't match. More over we don't even know what a single change in a DNA code does to that strand much less all the changes in all the DNA that there is.

From what I got from this guys video is he is comparing all in any given sample because he can't isolate any one buug from the other.

The whole idea of comparing all the DNAA this guy collects really seems very pointless. Between Me my self and I I think he is having funding problems and finding out that what he is doing is comparing something close to ... numbers. So maybe we can compare all the numbers between 0 and 2^128 and make just as much rime and reason from that.....but that's just my own personal view.

Still when are we getting more work units??? Is there anyone we can call like 24/7 to get more work units ??
