Yes, it is intermittent for me too on four machines. I got CEP2s last evening (12 hours ago here) on a couple of machines, but anything this morning has been the other projects. I wonder if it represents a shortage of work, or just a glitch in distribution?

I've been focusing on MCM before that project ends and now starting up CEP again. I noticed 4 of the 6 WU my Mac got failed as did 1 on a PC box. Are people seeing more failures or is this a fluke I got? If it is common then it might explain why there is a lack of WUs.

Are people seeing more failures or is this a fluke I got? On four machines (about 16 cores at any one time), I get only about one error every couple of days, so I don't think that is the problem. But I am wondering about the the WCG Settings. Sometimes they get messed up. All my machines are nominally set to receive CEP2 only, and to accept the other work only if CEP2 is not available. But that seems to be honored on a couple of machines more than the others. Maybe I will try changing things around to straighten it out, but I hope that IBM looks into it as well. |

It may be that CEP2 is no longer a "High Feeder Priority" project.

It may be that CEP2 is no longer a "High Feeder Priority" project. A previous analysis was that if you have unlimited set, then CEP2 is not priority treated. Asked uplinger, IIRC, to up the specific buffer limiter from 16 to 32 to give more push. Just checked, nothing moved on that. As this morning increased the concurrent from 1 to 2 [efficiency immediately dropped from 98+% on 1 to 94% for 2] and profile from 5 to 6, am anticipating 1 CEP2 to get added. It's on 3 sciences diet, so will know in a little when the 'don't need' changes to 'requesting nn seconds' if this project feeds first or not... while typing, and it did not. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 10, 2015 2:47:02 PM] |

Just checked, nothing moved on that. On my 24 thread machines I've had the profile set to 16 CEP2 tasks, with the app_config.xml max_concurrent set to 12. If greater than 12 then errors start occurring. Crunching CEP2 and OET1. Until recently this has worked out well, but now my crunchers are having trouble getting enough CEP2 WUs. Changing the buffer limiter to 32 would be greatly appreciated.edit- added quote [Edit 1 times, last edit by deltavee at Sep 10, 2015 2:58:25 PM] |

Cannot emphasize enough how important it is for a continuous stream of CEP2 tasks. Interrupted supply means concurrent starting when resuming which is disastrous for efficiency, bleeding disastrous, a period where dramatically higher saturation and fail rate chance is upon the hosts that do more than 1 at a time.

I have had it set to "unlimited" for years and have had no problems before running on 6 cores on each of several machines. I can try other settings, but it looks more like the feeder priority to me. |
