Hello,
I have a new pc I have just gotten and I have intel HD graphics 4400. Can I use the gpu always or do I hit "suspend gpu" on my options tab for world community grid? Will onboard act as a gpu, or is it better to suspend and only use my cpu? Thanks |

WCG does not use the GPU at all, except if you set the BOINC screensaver [which many consider a waste of computing cycles].
There are not many BOINC projects outside WCG who use the Intel On-CPU GPU [APU]. When browsing through the projects in the Manager GUI selector, the description icons indicate which hardware is supported. A quick check does not reveal this explicitly [notice the box which I suspect is for projects using the Virtual Machine, such as Atlas/LHC does]. |

Okay so can I still disable the gpu usage?
If I do that can I still use the screensaver while I'm away? Or will that use the gpu reguardless? |

You don't need to, but if you want you can [but I'm guessing what this 'Options tab' is that is not in my version of BOINC. I know if BOINC detects a GPGPU it adds 3 items on the Activity menu, to Always run GPU, to run GPU based on preferences and Suspend GPU. Specifically the option works on GPU computing, which is separate from running the project graphics and screensaver.
Just remembered that on my double GPU system [I7 has a on-board GPU and GPGPU card], I can set which application uses the APU or the GPGPU. |

I have a new pc I have just gotten and I have intel HD graphics 4400. Currently no GPU projects at WCG, but some other projects support your card: http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/gpu.py?fab...p;tri=projet&sort=asc ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by noderaser at Aug 26, 2015 5:34:52 PM] |

only projects that run intel GPU r: - SETi@home - Einstein@home You can also run Collatz Conjecture (and Gerasim yet it rarely has work) on an Intel GPU. If credits are your thing, it pays the best by far. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Skivelitis2 at Aug 29, 2015 5:23:28 AM] |
