Approximately how many tasks we have in this project?

Re: How many tasks?

If you want to see the number of completed tasks you can click "Research / FightAIDS@Home / Project Statistics" (direct link)

791,973,487 tasks (WU) have been completed. I am unsure how many remain.

Re: How many tasks?

The research is 'Open-Ended'. There is no fixed number towards which we compute. Right now for the known set, we go through to batch 908573 of experiment 166 [see http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/status]. The current batch numbers are in the task/work unit name. As there is no absolute sequential distribution, it's hard to say how far we progressed in the available work set, but if there is a 30 day remaining estimate, the technicians will usually [on your knees and pray], provide a warning... end of available work estimate. End of available work does -Not- mean end of project. There's years of continuous or intermittent work to come, is the mgl1 indication. The next phase [using the BEDAM analysis engine] is already in beta testing.

Thanks for elucidating SeKeRob! I had the same question/doubt.

Shall it continue under the same award badge tho? (ex: Dengue and MS split their projects into multiple badges (not sure if there is a consistent campaign criteria: Approach, Cause, Tier, etc)). I prefer to rack up under the larger cause name, understanding that there are a thousand worthy ways to slice the problem from the inside.

We don't know as no one has stated if it will be under the same badge or not. Many projects have multiple phases and they are under a new badge. Going with a cause also is a new badge. Look at cancer.
Active:
MCM Phase 1

Completed:
Help Fight Childhood Cancer
Help Conquer Cancer
Help Defeat Cancer

All of which had their own badge.

Projects that had multiple phases and separate badges.
Human Proteome Folding - Phase 1
Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2
Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy - Phase 1
Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy - Phase 2
Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together - Phase 1
Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together - Phase 2
The Clean Energy Project - Phase 1 (Completed)
The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 (Active)

In the end, it is not us who decides if there is a new badge or not. A new badge brings new opportunities. If someone is a badge collector, if they have 100 years already, there is no incentive for them to crunch. New badge means that they will probably put resources to that project.
