Lawrence,
How about posting here, via copy and paste, the first n lines of your Event Log after a reboot, where n is large enough to include a complete example of the error message you're experiencing, and any subsequent lines that might be relevant. I'm sure I'm not alone in being totally bewildered by the apparent situation that your Disk tab in BOINC Manager seems to give less info than everyone else's . You are in Advanced View, not Simple View, aren't you? |

No replies so I had one further go. I downloaded the latest BOINC and installed. Ran it again - same version as before. I have therefore decided to abandon ship and will be uninstalling everything. Too many errors and problems.
regards and goodbye. Lawrence |

Gold badge? I recently got a bronze. FWIW I am on my own (AFAIK!).

Despite several members offering to continue helping you to figure this out such as 'First n lines of event log', but for your 'No Replies' comment, no feedback.

Personally I think your system is a complete secret to us, more probably it's internal configuration to stop BOINC having access to disk space which must have happened some 290 hours ago. (Disk allocation to users in the OS is one of those possibilities). The missing info lines on the disk/memory charts [nothing found on google], is indicative of this, but it's a guess. |

Firstly, I have rarely used this forum and when I posted recently, mine was the last post that I saw. I had *not* realised that I was on page 1 of 2! So I acknowledge my mistake! When I realised my mistake I then tried to comply with the suggestions and extracted the latest lines from the event log. I am sorry if I seem to have been elusive but I had spent many hours trying to fault find and finding nothing untoward at all. My system does not have to be a secret, but I don't know how to crack the problem when all the settings appear to be OK.
I will now try yet again to locate the suggested data. Lawrence |

Try going to My contribution > My projects > Device manager. Now check which profile you are already using and then go to Device profiles and select one you are NOT using and set that up so that you have something like this (Provided your hardware can do this):
----------------------------------------Disk Usage Use no more than: 100 Gigabytes of disk space Leave at least: 5 Gigabytes of disk space free Use no more than: 80 % of total disk space Write to disk at most every: 600 seconds Memory Usage Leave applications in memory while suspended? YES Use no more than: 85 % of memory while computer in use Use no more than: 85% of memory while computer idle Use no more than: 75% of virtual memory At the bottom of the page "Save" these details Now go back to device manager and change the machine with the problem onto the new profile Finally in boincmanager Tools > Computing preferences.... at the top right activate the "Clear" button The object of all of this is to bypass both local and current Profile Settings in an attempt to get a fresh start Now try restarting boinc ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by OldChap at Aug 12, 2015 8:54:40 PM] |

Very interesting discovery!
Because of other problems with the Win-10 OS that I installed a week or so back.... this morning I reverted to Win-7. Guess what? BOINC is now running this project again! I have no real idea why. I had not got as far as changing the parameters suggested above. Lawrence |

You most likely did that just before 7/31/15 13:01:54 [313+ hour(s) ago] , but for 1 day 14 days ago
AND, Service Release 1 of 325MB was out since August 6 which may have fixed this, and many many Windows 10 issues. Anyway, one of those secrets not shared as background was lifted. System borked by user ![]() |
