New Drug developed!

Hello!
Today came on the television news that there is a drug against Ebola.
If the drug is ultimately a result of the calculations in the WCG ?

FoxNews, CNN, they always get it wrong ;>). It was a vaccine, not a drug, as reported 3x in our Ebola News thread: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,37511

Re: New Drug developed!

I am assuming that this development of a possible new vaccine against Ebola does not make this WCG project redundant? The project we are working on here is a drug to cure the patient of Ebola once they have become inflected. The vaccine helps to protect the patient BEFORE they become inflected.

Should not this new positive development be included in the WCG News section?

Nope, as it takes a lot longer than 8 months to develop a drug. OET was started in December of 2014 and then had issues at the start so work was halted.

Take the Help Fight Childhood Cancer project which commenced in March 9th, 2009. According to the charts, it wrapped up in February 2013. So it ran for about four years. In February 2014 is when they announced the good news which was:

After additional laboratory testing, we have discovered that the seven drug candidates are very effective at destroying neuroblastoma tumors in mice, even at very low dosages, with no immediately apparent side effects. These results have been published in the peer-reviewed journal Cancer Medicine, available online since January 2014.

Based on these very promising findings, we are now seeking a pharmaceutical partner to collaborate on the further development and testing needed to produce an approved medicine.

So even after all that processing, more work is required. So OET producing a drug all in 8 months just is not feasible.
