Re: Security upgrade, Monday, July 20, 2015

Has this update taken place yet?, as it'd be good to know whether my BOINC software needs upgrading or not.

No it hasn't, I know this because I just successfully downloaded WU's with a machine that shouldn't be able to once the upgrade happens.

I've not been able to upload but occasionally download some WUs. They get crunched but will timeout on the upload.
Since I'm using BOINC Portable (6.10.18) at the office it seems like I have to attach to different projects for the time being. :/

Follow mito7 post and further posts up in that thread on how to fix this [copy over 2 newer OpenSSL related .dll files]. His 6.10.18 is working again.

Lame, my 12 core (24 virtual) Domain Controller just got bumped, since only version 5 works with DC's.

Read parallel thread on the original SSL error reporting. 7.6.3 works [or port the OpenSSL dlls as discussed there]

Re: Security upgrade, Monday, July 20, 2015

A rather basic summary is that v5 boinc (or earlier) will break, some v6 will break and some will be ok, but v7.2.47 should be good for everyone.

It's a shame this is all so vague. If it had been tested, we should be able to get a table of boinc version and OS dependencies.

The new version off here gives me "error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.1.0.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".

Boinc 7.0.27 on Ubuntu 12.04lts 32bit works fine here.

It has libraries: libcurl/7.22.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1 zlib/1.2.3.4 libidn/1.23 librtmp/2.3
