Hello fellow crunchers.
----------------------------------------I wanted to know if any of you increased the default setting from 60 seconds to something higher in your boinc manager. Currently I have it set at 60 seconds, but if I increase that number that would mean that the checkpoints between tasks would be fewer. So if something happens I would loose more progress right? Is there a benefit into making it higher? Would a smaller frequency on a machine that you keep running for a long periods of time would increase performance slightly? Thank you for your help. ![]() |

Increasing reduces disk writes. I tend to run at 1 hour as my machines have been reliable and they run 24/7
----------------------------------------I believe the greatest benefit might be seen on a rig with many cores running CEP If you switch off your rig then it might be better to checkpoint more often than I do. as you will lose less on re-starting ![]() |

Hi OldChap, thank you for your response.
----------------------------------------If I have a laptop that I usually put on hibernation instead of restating or shutting it down is the progress for that work unit go back to the last checkpoint or resume from when it was hibernated? ![]() |
