Can you enable writing (new thread) in the hardware chat room. Do you see the 'New Thread' button on the right hand side of the page? You click that to start a new thread in that forum. Is anyone else able to see the 'New Thread' button? Thanks, ErikaT |

Is it possible to change the hardware chat room's name to Hardware and General Software, or something in those lines? I think Linux, and other software, would benefit from such a forum. Android has its own forum.

Android has its own forum. Hello TBMS,The name for the forum is going to remain Hardware Chat Room. The BOINC/World Community Grid software is the only software we support. However, you are welcome to open any thread for discussion in the Chat Room forum. Thank you for your support, ErikaT |

All I'm saying is that not all Linux related problems begin with a project discussion and ultimately end up in a general Linux discussion. If some do, fine, but sometimes there's a need to begin with a general, non-project related Linux discussion.
----------------------------------------This is how it looks when we search for Linux RAMdisk. We are forced to read all these non-related forums, where they discuss many other topics. It's time consuming. Here is a thread that would have benefited from a dedicated hardware and general software forum, because its visibility would have increased. Instead of having to search in all the forums, we could limit the search to only the hardware and general software forum. Besides, it's difficult to ignore software, and especially operating systems, when discussing hardware related matters. The hardware forum will drift into that direction anyway, so why not acknowledge it preemptively? [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 7, 2015 5:05:40 AM] |
