Also, I think it would be a good idea if you had a dedicated hardware thread in the forum. You have a thread for GPU, but you don't have a GPU project. You have millions(?) of computers crunching, but no hardware thread. Can you explain the thinking process behind this decision.

The suggestions/feedback and chatroom subforums serve the hardware purpose. The GPU subforum was created when the HCC GPU was running. There are around, uh, 250 to 275k active computers, not millions.

I don't think that's good enough. I think computers, and how to optimize them, is an important enough subject to warrant a dedicated subforum.
If we write a comment in the chat room on how to improve a computer's energy efficiency, it will drown and wash away in a sea of nonsense blabber. The suggestion thread is for ... well, what I'm doing now, suggesting something, and giving the responsible people ... feedback, on how to improve the site. A dedicated thread where we, and newcomers, can go and find relevant information on how to improve our ability to contribute to the different projects, would be something I would appreciate. Maybe others too? |

I think it's a great idea but I suspect that the forum software here is so ancient and heavily patched that even the simple task of adding a subforum is probably major surgery.

TBMS, would not oppose the addition of a 'Hardware' oriented
To note, not everything can be squeezed into a grid computational problem, and too much money would be hanging off the problem resolution [think so, Big Blue at odd with Big Oil]... Still looking for the 1 second 'reset' battery ;). Don't think it will ever exist, maybe the 1 minute high input recharge [without blowing the accumulator], to draw on slowly for the next 24 hours. Instead we get fuel stations to get a substitute pack in 90 seconds for the next 400 miles, at the price of 100 liters of Euro 95. [Said big oil is so fast asleep]. |

Edit.
----------------------------------------OK, I've removed a comment I thought was funny at the time of writing, but may not be so funny now that I've reread it. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 18, 2015 10:04:53 AM] |

I must say, WCG, this was totally unexpected. Thank you.
You too, Branjo. |
