Just out of interest went to do just that and finding interesting things such is who's using dont_use_dcf [12 projects attached to host]. Another that drew attention was some projects having <verify_files_on_app_start/> in their setup. The description in http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/ProjectOptions is
----------------------------------------<verify_files_on_app_start/> Before starting or restarting an app, check contents of input files and app version files by either MD5 or digital signature check. Detects user tampering with file (but doesn't really increase security, since user could also change MD5s or signatures in client state file). That's a lot of tampering, but still maybe something to consider at WCG. It does not cost but maybe a fraction of time to do the verification ![]() Another of interest is in that wiki: <min_core_client_version_announced> N </min_core_client_version_announced> We just experienced something like that on Android. To be Passive or Not to be Active, that was Shakespeare's question. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 27, 2015 12:18:41 PM] |

Offering a point of reflection: skip file verification is a user option, applying to all projects, whereas <verify_files_on_app_start/> is server enforced -for the project-.
