I am also attempting to attach my WCG project account to my BAM! account manager along with my six other BOINC projects without success so far. I receive an "Incorrect password" response whenever I search for my WCG project using the BAM! Sign-up for projects webpage.
I have confirmed that my My BAM! and WCG email addresses are spelled the same (this is also true for each of my other BOINC projects). My BAM! and WCG username spellings DO have a variance in their case: "nizzlebop" [BAM!] vs. "Nizzlebop" [WCG]. I've modified my WCG Member name from "Nizzlebop" to "nizzlebop" on the WCG account side but the alternation is not effective--my Member name continues to display in capitalized form even after I've logged out and back into my WCG account. I have also checked and confirmed that my BAM! and WCG passwords are synchronized. Would you advise a solution/workaround if one exists or indicate where I've taken the wrong turn in my problem solving assumptions please? Thank you in advance for your help and effort. |

If you previously added WCG manually to the client, then added BAM, and have ticked the box at BAM to default attach WCG **, things work [partially]. Key is that the WCG password is same as of BAM, the email account has to be exactly the same. FAIK the case sensitivity for the member name is not relevant, in fact, to BAM the name is irrelevant.
Getting BAM to add WCG to a brand new client does in my experience not work. The first time you have to add WCG manually to the new client, then you can detach and attach with BAM, for that client. It remembers that WCG was on that client before. In order to get a case change in the name at WCG, you first have to change name to something like nizzlebop1, then save profile and then change it to nizzlebop and save. Each time logging out and in to let it take effect. ** If you don't tick the box at BAM, users have experienced WCG being detached and attached again, losing work in progress. |

Sorry for repeating what I wrote already earlier in this thread about ticking that box at BAM.

I successfully modified the character case of my WCG account name as you indicated.
The impediment preventing BAM! from connecting to my WCG project appears to have been my password character length. I assigned a 32 character password to my BAM! account and used that for my WCG and other BOINC projects originally. I reread the password policy from WCG's perspective more closely and realized that a maximum 15 character length is specified. I reduced the password character length to 14 (on each end of the connection) and the manager successfully connected to my WCG project. Now ALL of my projects are being managed. Thank you again and yayyyyy! ![]() ![]() ...now I'm off to synch the passwords to each of my other BOINC project accounts accordingly. |

Gotcha, for sure, if you don't read conditions above the password field
----------------------------------------![]() ![]() @techs: This is clearly a user experience bug, the sign-IN password field taking more characters than the 15 allowed in the Log-In Manager, lest you have engaged in intentional hacker obfuscation, maybe in a previous life. And ahum... was this maybe why the LastPass user complaining, was having these inexplicable troubles... using long random generated PWs? I'm resurrecting a dead thread, but the ticket in is my queue so I'm following up.
I assigned a 32 character password to my BAM! account and used that for my WCG and other BOINC projects originally. How was a 32 character password created on WCG? I've tried every mechanism and they all reject the registration attempt with anything longer than 15 characters. @SekeRob - at the moment I'm skipping over the usability issue. I completely agree and there is no reason that I see in the system - however, it is a matter of prioritizing that work over other items. |

How was a 32 character password created on WCG? I've tried every mechanism and they all reject the registration attempt with anything longer than 15 characters. When was the 15 character limit for signup imposed? My password is more that 15 characters long and the entire amount are required. I just tested it on a different browser that I have never used to connect to WCG and it would only log in with all of the characters in the password entry box. I typed the first 15 (it failed) and then added 1 at a time (they all failed) until I reached the full length of the password (which passed). Wrong end? Did you try with just the last 15?
