There's one note of warning with 'snapshotting' volatile storage of the BOINC data-dir, what amounts to a live system: The client and server maintain connect counters, example <rpc_seqno>6274</rpc_seqno> on my laptop for WCG. If an auto-save was taken and the client connects to update report and fetch and then a shutdown is made without a new save of the ram drive, the counters will be off on restart, client having expired counters. The servers don't like that and you -could- see all work being wiped for a fresh reload. Presumably a regular shutdown/boot saves the ramdrive again, so no issue, but a power fail has the potential to make things go a little crazy. If this happens once in a blue moon, who cares
