With the recent flood of shorties, my points (and run time) have rather taken a nose dive, not even getting half of the "normal" rate... crying

That is the kind way to put it! Now I am finally understanding the virulence so many folks had in the past for VINA projects. Ebola on VINA makes about as much sense as running a stock off the street Yugo in the Indy 500. It's a shame such a deserving project got shafted by WCG's being forced to ram it thru into production before the media glare on Ebola died down. Variability is what VINA handles the worst. If I can manage to make sapphire on OET before the project ends, I'll know it's time to go buy some lottery tickets. I'm going to have to hand-hold BOINC daily for a year to pull that off. I bet I'll go from sapphire to diamond on UGM in half that time.

Re: Collapsing points claims on OET1

Sorry keithhenry, but VINA specific has nothing to do with this... it's any variability of runtime and the way the credit_new 'system' [euphemism] works it's statistics. See the same rampantness with other sciences when there's a quick enough chang. Also, how many tasks are processed in the span of the change works into the outcome. On tablet had within the span of few results, 2 per hour, 12 per hour, 6 per hour [which is the normal]. The record keeper equated to 134 per hour yesterday. Long as CN statistics is not addressed [held at device level too] this will continue till kingdom come.... we're just about hitting the 4th year this is going on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but collapsing points on OET has nothing to do with badge level. For badge time spend on computing counts and it does not matter if you got 5 or 25 points for hour and complete 1 or 5 task during that time.
OET is 1% for the moment, there is decent supply of the workunits, I'm pretty sure you will go far above sapphire :)

I was just more stating a general fact, haven't even looked if those WUs are in fact VINA ones or not, somehow doubt it as there are batches that run up to 2h while those "shorties" finish in 15min max. I just got a whole flood of the later the other couple of days but now it seems to be back to "normal" (kind of) with points and runtime increasing by about 20% on the day with the last daily update...
