Time travel back to 2006. I got my first Intel Core Duo laptop. With 2 cores instead of one, well surely I can find some use for all this extra processing power I have. Enter world community grid...---------------------------------------- Fast forward to today, I'm using 24 core machines and 8 core machines. Oh, and some old dual core laptop from 2006 :) [Edit 1 times, last edit by ryan222h at Feb 16, 2015 4:39:56 PM]

my old laptop i took to the middle east in 2006 died a few years ago,---------------------------------------- i used it to crunch CEP2 til it died. my Q6600 i gave away, my friends quit using it. I have built and given away lots of machines, but no one seems to give a sh!t... One buddy is still plugging away with a 3770K. I put a lot of money and energy into that build. He's still crunching for WCG when his wife isnt' shutting it down. O well, crunching on... EDIT: No one probably cares, but it looks like I was whining about my friends wife. That is incorrect and sad. So what if she forgets and turns it off... It's been running solid for 2 months, I shouldn't be a crybaby. Every work unit crunched is a good thing! And a BONUS. In fact even though i just spent too much on an I7 5820 rig, Going to look at new cruncher, dedicated to cheap electric usage, and many cores..... and build it myself. I had memory express put mine together, since it was supposed to be a gaming rig, I wanted everything tested and covered with extended warranty. but I just want more science... If ever i get a game my I7 2600K can't handle then I'll worry about it. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Jack007 at Feb 26, 2015 3:38:46 AM]

You do what you can with what you have. My q6600 still does a respectable job. BTW how is the solar array doing?---------------------------------------- Cheers

Solar is on the old house,---------------------------------------- wife's job moved 4 hours away, but came with a nice pay raise. The system though has made 10.4 Megawatts so far, I just looked even Feb had some 10 kw days pretty good for short days up here in winter. Ironically after moving I bought an electric smart car, would be nice to be making 'fuel' from the sun...
