Alan, keep being yourself. It's d#)& impressive to an old fart like me! Most of us get to evade and dodge facing that final fate until it is actually occurring. You have Hades himself, arm around your shoulder, walking with you every step of the way now. A tad hard to ignore. You're a far better man than I! I can only take hope in things like having a mother-in-law who's been in hospice for almost nine months now. My wife, a nurse, remarked when she saw her mother's heart function levels that there no way she should even be alive (that was as she was going in to hospice). As a kid, I had a great-grandmother who, if born a couple of generations later probably would have spent those final years riding her Hog dressed in a full set of leathers. Back then, docs sent her home on four occasions so she could go in familiar surrounding with family by her side. On one of those occasions, as family sat in the den discussing who would get what and such, I walked into the her bedroom and asked her what was the matter. She explained that she did feel very well but would be okay in a few days. She was, again. I remain convinced she would get well just to spite the docs. When she did pass, she did it her way on her terms - on Good Friday with a funeral on Easter Sunday. I can only hope cussedness is genetic!
