Just stopping by to say hello.
As of Monday, I'll be changing employers (voluntarily). My new employer does not want WCG running on their machines... meaning that I'm losing my fastest machine and it won't be replaced until the upgrade cycle hits on my home machines -- depending on what I can talk the CFO into (one at a time or both on the same cycle )- D |

Congratulations (I think ). 99 percent of the folks I dealt with in IBM over 20+ years were great to work with. I suspect though that you've been on the road a bit more than you prefer (it gets old so quick but there were always plenty of open positions in IBM if you were willing to travel five days a week 52 weeks a year). I do miss working with so many of those I worked with, and the company benefits were actually rather good but it's such a cold-hearted, mercenary company. So many of the folks I knew were just trying to last long enough to make it to full retirement bene's. Obviously, you like your new job Hope it goes well for you. |

Keith,
I was too young to qualify for the pension (had the years, but not the age), so no retirement bene's for me. I decided that I had to do something different... and they were not going to approve a transfer to anywhere. Something about "you can never leave". Anyway, I had to look outside the company after nearly 30 years. I have no illusions about the grass being greener on the other side, but the grass will at least be different. - D |

I had 44 when I was retired, and I had what was built up for retirement plus the new 401K retirement (about twice the amount I had in my retirement account). I took it all in one lump sum and have been investing since. |
