Ok looking for some guidance. I just bought a gopro 4 and trying to edit the 4k video has maxed out my laptop which I thought was pretty dang fast. So Im thinking I need to get a desktop now. But living here in korea the prices for box store computers sucks. I mean like an extra 300 or more bucks. But there are computer shops everywhere. So if Im looking to spend around 1k for a desktop what kind of specs could i get? should i get? will it even be decent? I dont know much about computers. But im hoping I can waltz into a computer shop and have them build me a fast one for less than the crap ones with bloatware on them at the stores. Any recommendations would be great. Heck even tell me if 1k is not enough or I can do a nice one for less.

Heck even tell me if 1k is not enough or I can do a nice one for less. OK. The first thing one has to think about is the usage of the computer. I have built over a dozen of this $1000 class machines. If you want a cruncher get an Intel I74790K on a gigabyte motherboard, 8 gigs of memory and a 1TB Western Digital Harddrive. I would use a coolermaster HAD 912 Case along with a Cooler Master Seidon 120V – Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan with a 12X Blu-ray Player & DVD-Rewriter Combo Drive. I would run windows 7 on it. All that remains is the video card (if you want one) and the monitor if you don't have one. If you get the right Gigabyte Motherboard, you can just use the onboard video and hopefully you have a monitor of some sort. But that is buying a cruncher (4 cores and 4 psuedo cores so you run 8 WUs at a time). You can get by cheaper if you don't want that much power. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by RT at Jan 6, 2015 11:34:08 PM] |
