Hot Under the Heat Sink

I'm pretty new around here and pretty new to running my PCs hard and fast. Anyway, I've currently got 2 desktop PCs and a laptop crunching away. I've installed TTrottle and have these results:

Main desktop – Intel e5200 dual core Pentium at 2.5 GHz - 48° C

Laptop – Lenovo i3-2350 2.3 GHz 2c/4t running at 50% of the processors at 100% CPU time – 55° C
(so basically just with 2 cores without hyper threading)

And just added:
Backup desktop – Intel e5200 dual core Pentium at 2.5 GHz – 85° C
Oops what happened here?
Well after a good vacuum, fresh thermal grease under the heat sink -
38° C at 100% with both cores running flat out.

Looks like my other e5200 box will be getting a cleaning.

Re: Hot Under the Heat Sink

Good job. Excessive dust build up can act like an insulating blanket, holding the heat in. It is a good practice to clean the insides about once a year, more often if your environment is especially dusty.
Cheers
