Ok, I thought I was smart but I guess I am not very. I downloaded the BOINC Manager to my Mac. I registered at BAM!. I went to the BAM! site to sign up for a project and I can not for the life of me figure out which one of the projects listed on the left correlates to one of the following below.
outsmart ebola together uncovering genome mysteries mapping cancer markers I was expecting something like OET@home or something like that. I will be glad to participate but I need a little guidance. There is a disconnect somewhere and if it is this hard for me it will be really difficult for someone less tech savvy. I went to the forum and it assumes you are already on a project. There is no breadcrumb trail telling you how to hook up to the five active projects at this site http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/research/viewAllProjects.do It would be nice if there were a link under each of the projects that would easily allow you to sign up for them. It would also be nice if in the descriptions/overview of the research projects there was mention of the research project name on BAM! i.e. this site http://boincstats.com/en/bam/signup/ I look forward to sharing my cycles but I need help thanks bob |

If you're attempting to select the projects you want your Mac participating in then you can do this from the world community grid website. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyProjects.do

Worldcommunitygrid is not fully supported by BAM, from http://boincstats.com/en/bam/
----------------------------------------World Community Grid only supports reading data from the project. BAM! can't update settings! As numbermaniac suggested, use the worldcommunitygrid website to select between different applications. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyProjects.do One thing that you might be confusing, there are different boinc projects, where SETI@Home, PrimeGrid and World Community Grid are some examples. And then there are different applications within these projects, Outsmart Ebola Together, Uncovering Genome Mysteries and Mapping Cancer Markers are all applications run by the World Community Grid project. One thing that you might be confusing, there are different boinc projects, where SETI@Home, PrimeGrid and World Community Grid are some examples. And then there are different applications within these projects, Outsmart Ebola Together, Uncovering Genome Mysteries and Mapping Cancer Markers are all applications run by the World Community Grid project. To be a little more concise, they are sub projects that have their own apps. For example: Fight Aids At Home has two apps. It is a sub project of WCG and supplies those apps to WCG. However, SETI@Home does not have sub projects in the same manner as they don't handle other peoples research. Therefore they just have apps to choose from that could just be a hardware platform choice or a different research that SETI is conducting. These are as well determined from their website and not BAM! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by Coleslaw at Dec 17, 2014 4:13:29 PM] |
