Conditions:
* BONIC Version 6.10.58 * Windows 7, 4 processor CPU * I have run antivirus, malware and rootkit scans... Nothing found. Description: I have been chasing a significant performance problem that causes poor system performance. As best I can remember the problem started 2-3 months ago: 1) svchost.exe (a Windows component that loads support programs) is very high (<50%). It has typically been a few %. 2) A system shutdown frequently stalls at the "Shutdown" screen and does not completely power off. I have to force a power-off to complete. I have found that when I "Suspend" all tasks in BONIC the expected system behavior resumes. "Resume" and the problem returns immediately. I have done this A-B-A-B comparisons over several days and the behavior is consistent. I have not changed by user preference for system utilization in years. High svchost.exe utilization has not been a problem in the past with BONIC running. It appears that either something has infested or gone wrong with my installation or the BONIC dispatcher has a bug. Do you have any suggestions other than just uninstall the whole thing? |

I think lavaflows suggestion will cure your problem. Otherwise use either task manager or process manager to kill the offending svchost thread and see what else it might kill.
