I suggest that you please update the system requirements page to indicate recommended operating system versions for each of the science apps.
In the meantime, which applications are compatible with Mac OS 10.4.11? I understand that my computer will download both FAAH and clean-energy jobs, but will return invalid FAAH jobs. (I even reset the project, to no avail; from the earlier discussion, it seems that FAAH requires a newer OS version?) Thank you! |

There's 2 fa@h applications, the autodock based faah, old, and the vina based fahv, where the name of a task includes the acronym telling which is what. Since you wrote the sn2s ended in invalid, presume it was the fahv going invalid? Was there ever any vina based science app valid on your mac? The dsfl, hfcc and gfam projects were also using this engine. Seem to recollect certain macs could never run these 'vina' sciences successfully, but which i don't remember? Given the next project is also vina based, things might look more like few sciences are left for your mac, at least at wcg.

They are FAAH, not FAHV. The system requirements page lists both FAAH and clean energy as being able to run on earlier Mac hardware, but it does not list operating-system versions. That is what I suggest they please add to that page. If only Clean Energy will run on a 10.4.11 Macintosh, then it should say so.
----------------------------------------By the way, I have another suggestion regarding the BOINC client itself. I think that if you shut down the computer, it should display the same warning that it displays if you quit the application. I just lost a perfectly good clean-energy job by shutting the computer down by mistake (not realizing that I had BOINC running). As an alternative, maybe it should offer you a chance to manually save a checkpoint when you quit the application or shut the Mac down? (It would be kind of ironic if the only science that Mac OS 10.4.11 can run is the one with the most demanding system requirements!) We have had miles of discussions concerning CEP2 checkpointing. This project is best run by crunchers willing to run 24/7. |

I assume that my Mac OS 10.4.11 computer won't be able to run Outsmart Ebola Together... or will it? I hope that somebody will please include minimum operating-system versions on the system requirements page. Thanks!
