Hurricane Katrina is making her way to the Gulf of Mexico at this time. She could make at least 1,000,000 people homeless. New Orleans and surrounding areas are in peril.
----------------------------------------One of the few Category 5 hurricanes to ever hit the USA this century. I just hope that all of you in her reach will be safe and out of harms' way. |

Too bad there is not as much enthusiasm for donating to natural disaster relief in our own country as there has been for others. Not that they were not deserving of the assistance. They certainly were. But so are we.
And yes, I've already sent in my $20. ![]() |

15 billion sent to Africa was a big waste so your saying saving the lives of millions of men, women and children is a 'waste'? little harsh I believe I'm sure the US has enough money for both, don't you? [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 31, 2005 4:55:02 PM] |

I am certain that marysduby does not feel that saving the lives of millions is a waste. I am sure that he is refering to news stories which indicate that governmental corruption in many areas of Africa keep the aid from reaching the people we want to help. For those of you wishing to donate to help in the recovery efforts from hurricane Katrina, you can click here to donate to the American Red Cross. I did and it is quick and simple. All we succeeded in doing was using taxpayer's money to contribute to "dictators are us." By providing living assistance for the corrupt and ruthless we just dug the ordinary people's hole that much deeper. Our continuing policy of sending out blanket "aid" is rooted in a political and economic world model that was outdated even before the Berlin Wall was taken down. It is ludicrous. Sometimes .... |
