Ok, I installed your program. Ran it.
Now what do I do? Do I just leave it on for the rest of the night and It will do it by it self or will I have to be playing a game for it to work or do something productive. Thanks, LiL eNgInE b0i |

Hi
Actually, doing other things has the effect of slowing it down, as, when you use your cpu cycles for other things it backs off to free up the resources. If you have an always on internet connection you can just "set it and forget it" pretty much. When it completes a unit of work it will send the data and send a new unit of work for your system to work on. However, you do not have to be online for it to work. You only need to be online to send your completed work unit and get a new one. So, once you have it set up to suit you.....you can just leave it be. If you have further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Great to have you with us, and welcome to the forums. Vaio |

Hi again
If you don't have always on internet access there is a programme called UD Monitor, with which you can set up multiple cache slots(devices) and work your way through them before sending. That way, you have no "down" time if you complete a work unit whilst offline....you can simply set it to move on to the next one. Click here for ud monitor download link If you need any help setting it up just ask |

just leave it on for the rest of the night yes, and all day if possible, every cycle helps towards WU completition that's it, once you've installed it and got it to run on startup (happens as standard) then your sorted... just use your computer as you would usually and it'll work in the background if you get the urge (as most do) for more proccesing time you could have more computers, running more hours, in more homes... tell your friends, family, place free ads for WANTED computers and get donations. try removing it from screensaver onyl mode and have it running constantly, your stuff will still work just as quick, but you'll be able to give so much more. welcome, pull up a chair, get comfy hope to see you around more often happy crunching |

been doing it since last year, very good around christmas when people are upgrading
you'll get everything, and I mean everything but if nothing else, the worst can be broken down and used to upgrade the rest I've had about 65 donated systems, over time, and having worked on them for many an hour, they hae been phased out as electricity bills forced me to lose them. It's worth doing, free-ads, requests to friends and local businesses, all you need is a few people to give you something and you'll be set up |

Still at 0%? Try double-clicking on the grid icon to bring up the Main Information screen for the World Community Grid. See what it says. Then go through the other views by clicking on the icons at the right bottom. The Application view should give you the per cent completed with 1 decimal place and show a rotating graphic figure of a protein. What do you see?
