That's strange, taking the error message at face value - I don't think there should be any program within the ProgramData folder. Are your Windows security updates and anti-virus protection up to date? Did you install anything new just before the messages appeared? I suggest trying a reinstall of BOINC (not BONIC
), first suspending all running workunits (Activity / Suspend in BOINC Manager), making sure the installation choices are the same as your original ones; afterwards, set Activity back to Run. |

There's applications in the 'sub'folders of ../project alright, albeit wcg choosing to not give them an exe extension like wcgrid_ugm1_7.23_windows_x86_64 and wcgrid_ugm1_graphics_prod_64.exe.7.23 . Iirc some were not happy with this policy, but it seems to be a trend in boinc world for there not being an executable extension.
An aside, don't know if bonic in the path was a copy typo, but one would expect the path to be ../boinc/projects/ |

lavaflow, Thanks for putting me straight about applications in ProgramData - hmmm.
Is it still odd, though, that there was no application filename in the error message (in the line above "This application has requested")? dcb136, was that line complete? |

Ya the message was typed verbatim. I have up to date Norton 360 on all my computers.
I use computers all the time, but I am more like a cab driver than a mechanic when it comes to theses things. I know how to use it, but not much else it seems |

dcb136, have you tried excluding the I:/ProgramData/BOINC/ folder and sub-folders from real-time and scheduled scanning by Norton360? Such scanning by anti-virus programs has caused problems for some people.
If that doesn't solve it, then have you tried the reinstall of BOINC? |

I know how to use it, but not much else it seems Program I:/ProgramData/BONIC/projects If the message was typed "verbatim," then you must have done a custom install of BOINC and directed it to use a directory named "BONIC". If the program is looking for a directory named "BOINC" and you have yours named "BONIC" you will have problems. If that is the case, you should do a fresh install of BOINC. Cheers
