New chart on old data.

Another one pulling various member and device statistics together, limiting the data to when daily capture of various metrics commenced about mid 2009. This time Y1 and Y2 have the exact same scaling, no need to figure out which of the two fits one or the other curve.

Re: New chart on old data.

Good to see you're keeping your hand in! biggrin

Clearly demonstrates that whilst the total number of members who have returned results has climbed steaduly since 2009 the number of Active members has declined. sad Seems to me that retention is more of a problem than recruitment. thinking

Re: New chart on old data.

Thanks SekeRob for another very clear graph.
The fact that active members (green line) dropped from over 100.000 to just 65.000 is pretty scary I must say. sad

Thanks Sekerob*. Very nice to see you posting occasionally. I miss your witty repartee. The above statement is very possibly true, but your graph does show those who have continued are more dedicated or at least have increased their participation - on average anyway. The increase in "Cpu hours per day by active members" is at least somewhat encouraging.

Sekerob*: Please correct me if I am wrong on any of the following.

For Branjo:
BOINC Members - The number of users using BOINC. It would not include any any of the members who had only used the United Devices grid agent.
Active Devices- This would be the number of hosts returning a result in the latest time period chosen by Sekerob*
Active Members - This would be the number of members returning at least one valid result in the latest time period chosen by Sekerob*

Cheers

My guess would be that many of those are ones who left after the ripple giveaway ended.

Re: New chart on old data.

The problem is that some mths ago we get news by WCG page and "RSS" that Ripple Labs became a new partner but now no advert about
these people leaving WCG.
Are they still a partner?
They impacted so much the results that the reliability and usefulness of such a partnership can be questioned.

Yesterday Ripple Labs contributed 12.7 years RunTime #3; 20,062,256 Points #4 and 30,911 Results #4 with around 1,900 team members participating. They consistently rank in the top 5 teams on a daily basis. A pretty useful partmership IMO.

It might be considerably less than at peak but it shouldn't be decried.
