And all projects revert back a bit when the computer is restarted but this project is more resource intensive so it stings a bit more. I've been putting my machine to hibernate/sleep with "leave applications in memory..." activated so I don't lose anything and can sleep without hearing the whirl of the CPU fans at night. The glowing power button was an issue until I tossed a shirt over it.
----------------------------------------That plus the system requirements does scare people away from contributing which is why the output is lower than the other projects. That being the case I try to have at least one thread of it running on all of my able machines. Cheers mate! ![]() |

If all the active members would only have 1 thread, no matter how many resources/computers, that would have been 67 thousand results every day of last week. The daily average actual returned results was 26 thousand.
----------------------------------------There's room for improvement, if so desired Make a special 'help' faq topic in step check pulling bits and pieces we've collected in the past half decade through hands on experience. And do emphasize the default is just running 1 at the time for lowest possible impact on user!Maybe the admin could make a short help topic 'how to optimize the clean energy experience and increase contribution' with a link to the tip sheet that cleanenergy has published and put the maintenance responsibility on their plate (that was easy )[Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 12, 2014 8:49:51 AM] |

Lavaflow,
----------------------------------------thanks for your detailed answer, pointing out (one more time, shame on me...) the option 'leave application in memory when suspended', which indeed wasn't activated. I did this now, hoping to crunch the next CEP2 workunit more cuccessfully on my laptop, if I'd get one more in the future. Cheers, Jochen ![]() |

Lavaflow,
Great Idea. I will talk to our IBM friends and try and get something put together, maybe with some FAQs as well. Your Harvard CEP Team |
