Boinc keeps crashing, nothing will run on my new iMac. I've tried Boinc, which simply stops respond. It starts running several mini programs that quickly overload my system, and I have to force quit. Grid Republic opens OK, but none of my selected projects run at all. It just sits there, and takes me through daisy chains of verifying and logging in over and over again. These programs all ran properly on my old iMac, using OSX lion. Now I have Mavericks, and Apple is about to upgrade again to Yosemite. I importred all data and software from the old machine to the new-- Apple babysat me through the transition, but they only support their own apps, no one else's. An email to Boinc about these problems has gone unanswered. The screen savers don't work. Previews show only the project hallmark, not the operations in progress in real time as they did on the old machine. Please advise!-- ![]() |

What projects did you run on your old machine, you show no badges for WCG?

Hi Douglas Pratt and welcome to the forum.
----------------------------------------I am running BOINC on my iMac mid 2011 24/7 w/o any problem since 2.5 years. You have not stated the parameters of your "new iMac", so it will be useful to post CPU, RAM and available space on your HDD in your next reply here. The "several mini programs" ran under BOINC are actually scientific applications - the main reason we are running BOINC. I recommend to upgrade your OS on Yosemite (it is already available in App Store) and then to upgrade BOINC to version 7.4.23 from here (Mac OS X (Intel only)). In this order. If you install BOINC first and Yosemite later, you will have to reinstall BOINC after OS installation is completed. Cheers and ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Apparently, you have chosen to change your username or password when installing boinc on you new imac, so it sets all your accounts to zero. You should reinstall boinc, using your old username and password.
Hope that helps |
