Hello all,
----------------------------------------I am planning on getting a new desktop which will have the following processor: Intel® Core™ i7 5930K Processor (6x 3.50GHz/15MB L3 Cache). If I would want to set the CPU to be used 100% would that be a smart option? I would imagine it would reduce the life of that cpu, but if properly cooled (either by dual fans or liquid cooling) would that damage be avoided? Or would it be smarter to have it run at 60% to keep its longevity. I have used 100% utilization with my laptops, but I have made sure they were on cooling pads and routinely clean them out of any dust that collects. Have others experienced issues by running their desktops 100% for a long period of time? Thanks in advance for your advice. ![]() |

Run 100% 24/7. Modern PC off the shelf do not even run fans at high speed.....

Thanks for the advice Scribe. Can't wait until I get it and start running it for WCG. Probably will get it around either right after Thanksgiving or right after December.
